Kgomotso H. Moahi

Kgomotso Moahi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Library and Information Studies at the University of Botswana. Kgomotso Moahi has researched and written extensively on the use of ICTs in information management and librarianship; promotion and protection of indigenous knowledge; and health informatics. Kgomotso has served in many capacities at the University of Botswana: She has been head of Department in the Library and Information Studies department; she has been Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; she has served in many committees and has been a member of Senate and the governing Council. She has also represented the University in her professional service by participating in a number of initiatives aimed at encouraging the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) for development such as the development of an ICT policy for Botswana (MAITLAMO); She was co-chair of the health commission in the 2nd World Information Technology Forum (WITFOR) conference that took place in Gaborone in 2005; She participated in a Telemedicine feasibility study that was spearheaded by the Botswana Technology Centre (BOTEC) in 2005/6. She helped found the Children’s Information Trust in 2004 which aims to encourage the development of libraries in primary schools. Kgomotso Moahi is currently vice Chair of the ICT sub sector committee of the Human Resource Development Council of Botswana.
