Yonghong Tian
Yonghong Tian is currently a Professor with the National Engineering Laboratory for Video Technology, School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University, Beijing, China. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2005, and was also a visiting professor at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Minnesota from Nov. 2009 to Jul. 2010. He served as the Hi-Tech Scientist in the Organizing Committee for the Beijing Games of the XXIX Olympiad from Feb. 2006 to Oct. 2008, and currently is one of the consultant specialists of National “New-Generation Artificial Intelligence” Plan Council of China since Mar. 2016. He is a senior member of IEEE, CIE and CCF, a member of ACM.
Dr. Tian’s research interests include machine learning, computer vision, and multimedia big data. He is the author or coauthor of over 150 technical articles in refereed journals such as IEEE TPAMI/TIP/TNNLS/TCSVT/TMM/TKDE, ACM CSUR/TOIS/TOMM, IJCV and Pattern Recognition, and some top-rank conferences such as ICCV/CVPR/AAAI/ACM MM. He has owned more than 40 Chinese and US patents. He was the recipient of two National Science and Technology Awards and three ministerial-level awards in China, and obtained the 2015 EURASIP Best Paper Award for the EURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing. His team was also ranked as one of the best performers in the TRECVID CCD/SED tasks from 2009 to 2012, PETS 2012 and the WikipediaMM task in ImageCLEF 2008.
Dr. Tian is currently the co-Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Multimedia Data Engineering and Management (IJMDEM), and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Multimedia and IEEE Access. He has served as the Technical Program Co-chair of IEEE ICME 2015, IEEE BigMM 2015, IEEE ISM 2015 and IEEE MIPR 2018, and also the organizing committee member of ACM Multimedia 2009, IEEE MMSP 2011, IEEE ISCAS 2013, IEEE ISM 2016/2017. He also serves/served as a member of the technical program committee for more than 20 academic conferences such as CVPR/AAAI/KDD/ECCV.
