Abstract

It is important to have adult learners experience meaningful learning, especially in an instructional technology course. To do this, instructors of such courses need to consider the needs of adult learners as well as components of best educational practices. One way of ensuring such learning takes place is to have the students engage in an activity that incorporates these things. One such activity is the development of a quick reference guide, or an overview that highlights the main actions, procedures, and commands of a software package. This activity, when preceded by helpful directions, examples, and an advanced organizer can produce many positive results.
