Ana Castro

Ana Castro received her Ph.D. degree on Biomedical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Portugal, in 2012. After finishing her degree on Applied Mathematics (Faculty of Science, University of Porto, 2006), she pursued her work on the analysis and control of nociception during anesthesia, receiving the 2012 Pain Award, by the GrĂ¼nenthal Portuguese Foundation. Current research interests are focused on the signal processing of biomedical signals, and patient monitoring in hospital and home-based scenarios. Main lines of work include acute and chronic pain assessment, monitoring during anesthesia, heart sound analysis for cardiovascular disease detection, and blood pressure estimation through non-invasive methods.
