K. Somasundaram
Somasundaram K.
was born in 1953. He was the Professor and Head Department of Computer Science and Applications, at Gndhigram Rural Institute, India, from 1996 to 2018. He was the Head of the Computer Centre from 1989 to 2014. He has served as Registrar and Controller of Examinations. He served as Professor of Physics for the same institute from 976 to 1999. He obtained his M.Sc. in Physics degree from Madras University in 1976. He obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Methods from Madurai Karmaraj University in 1989. He obtained his Ph.D degree in theoretical MHD waves from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru in 1984. He has guided 18 Ph.D candidates and completed four research projects funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, University Grants Commission, Government of India, Association of Commonwealth Universities, UK. He is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education, India, the Telemedicine Society of India, and an annual member of IEEE, USA. He has published about 200 articles in journals and conferences. His areas of interest are Magnetic Resonance Image(MRI) processing, image segmentation, image computer, computer simulation for kosava yield, brain image processing and brain extraction from MRI of human head, and tumor detection.
