Matthew Waritay Guah

Matthew Waritay Guah is full professor and chair of the Business Administration & Information Systems Department at South Carolina State University, as well as Interim MBA Director. Returning to the College in August 2019, after serving as Acting Associate Provost for Academic Affairs for three years, he has been Faculty Athletic Representative for NCAA (MEAC) since 2016. With a PhD in Information Systems and Management Controls from Warwick University (United Kingdom), Dr. Guah previously worked at Claflin University (SC), Erasmus School of Economics (Rotterdam), University of Hawaii (Honolulu), Warwick University and Brunel University (London). His primary research focuses on business systems in healthcare organizations—reforming healthcare delivery process and performance evaluation. He is also researching claims that Big Data is the next frontier for innovation, competition, and productivity. He has published 5 books and over 75 journal articles, book chapters and international conference papers, mostly in healthcare management, project management and business accountability. Dr. Guah served on editorial boards for several academic journals as well as track chair, session chair and panelist for many international conferences. Married to Evelyn, with two grown children, Dr. Guah is Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Orangeburg, and a Parish Council member.
