Brooke Kandel
Brooke Kandel
is the Dean and Professor in the College of Education at Butler University. Her role primarily involves partnering with faculty and community stakeholders to diversify Indiana's educator workforce and prepare high-quality teachers. Before this, she served as an immigrant advocate, ESL and bilingual educator, and a Senior Research Associate in Texas. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University. Her research interests span culturally sustaining practices, community engagement, ESL teacher development, and teacher leadership. Her work is published in prominent educational journals including Multicultural Education, Theory into Practice, Educational Forum, and The Oxford Encyclopedia of Global Perspectives on Teacher Education.. Dr. Kandel finds her greatest motivation in collaborating with and learning from young learners and educators.
