Iberedem Obot
is an erudite scholar and professional with a robust background in law. His academic journey commenced in Nigeria, where he secured a Law degree (LL.B) in 2012, before advancing to the Nigerian Law School where he obtained the license to practice law in the country in 2014. Subsequently, he attended the University of Westminster, London, UK, and obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Corporate Finance Law in 2016. His thirst for academia propelled him to pursue and successfully obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from Coventry University, UK, in 2023. Dr. Obot's career embodies a blend of academic and professional engagements, showcasing a convergence of theoretical and practical applications of law. He tenured as a Researcher at the Centre for Counter Fraud Awareness (CCFA) in Nigeria, between 2019 and 2020. During this period, he helped in providing information on Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), produced educational materials on compliance-related issues, and drafted policy documents, thereby underscoring his commitment to knowledge dissemination and practical legal solutions. In 2021, Dr. Obot transitioned to a role as an Analyst at AML/CFT Resources Nigeria Ltd, where he is involved in developing training materials on anti-money laundering safety procedures and contributing to strategy meetings for developing compliance frameworks. His foray into academia has encompassed tutoring and socio-legal research, with a particular interest in investigating the value of soft law instruments as compliance mechanisms for international law provisions. Dr. Obot has also showcased a remarkable ability to share his knowledge and insights through publications. He has attained proficiency in legal drafting and an understanding of corporate finance law that has been invaluable in the projects he has undertaken. His journey reflects a harmonious blend of academic rigor, and professional diligence, making him a distinguished individual in the legal and academic arenas.
