Kannass Chan

Kannass Chan worked as an educational development officer in the Educational Development Center at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her role at the section of the institutional assessment and evaluation, provides her the opportunities to work not only on the evaluation and assessment of institutional data, but also with different academia in many educational related areas including scholar of teaching and learning, programme development etc. She is experienced in designing evaluation methods, advanced data analysis, administering regional and large-scale surveys and evaluating effectiveness of programmes across different educational settings. Kannass co-led two large Teaching Development Grant (TDG) in Hong Kong, and used learning analytic on a number of subjects to understand students’ learning behaviour. She collaborated with academia in utilizing classroom data to inform teaching. Prior joining PolyU, she worked at international market consultancy companies in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand as a senior consultant, specializing in market research and data analytic. She also worked at the Hong Kong Hospital Authority as a statistician, heavily involved in advanced data analysis such as evaluation and projection of patient’s health care in Hong Kong. Kannass was involved in a number of Teaching Development Grant (TDG) and General Research Fund (GRF) projects, in the areas of curriculum review, program development; university’s learning management system, first-year experience programmes, student learning etc. Her research interest focuses on first-year experience, student success, educational evaluation, assessment and learning analytic in higher education sector.
