Rui Mendonça-Pedro
Rui Mendonça-Pedro
holds a PhD in Tourism with a major in Management and Marketing from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve. Currently, he is Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT), Lusófona University, Portimão, Portugal. He is also an Invited Adjunct Professor at the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism, University of Algarve, Portimão, Portugal. Rui is a collaborator research member of the Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being (CinTurs), University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal. Rui’s doctoral thesis developed a SEMs model (Senses, Emotions, and Memories) in the context of Tourism – Neurosciences – Psychology. The SEMs model allowed to reinforce the understanding, the design, the management, and to implement the tourism experience more effectively, in terms of experiential stage planning and acting, namely, the sensory attributes that allow a tourist to feel and perceive an experience, to activate and evoke emotions and inscribe memories. His main research areas are: Sensory, Emotional and Memorable Consumer Experience; Tourist Experience Modelling and Design; Tourist Experience Management; Destination Marketing and Management; Tourist’s Behaviours Trends.
