Spiritual Intelligence and Srimad Bhagavad Gita
Abstract
Most explanations of human behaviour as we know today come from the foundations of philosophers and mystics of Western traditions. In spite of any number of explanations, human miseries and sufferings continue to increase and there is an exponential growth of mental health issues. The present chapter has tried to understand how Vedic philosophy, especially Srimad Bhagavad Gita, offers a panoramic view on the functioning of human mind and its sufferings. Among the eighteen chapters of Srimad Bhagavad Gita, the author has chosen chapter two, consisting of 72 verses, which in detail talks about the Sankhya Yoga or dualistic realism. The reason for choosing the same has also been explained. A thematic analysis of the seventy-two verses and its commentaries resulted in six themes. The chapter concludes with the concept called “Sthitaprajñasamādhistha” or, “state of steady intelligence situated in a trance,” which is a practice every human being should strive to relief themselves of all miseries and sufferings of human life and attain a state of permanent happiness.
