Abstract
This case study describes the whole procedure followed for the creation of a specific service structure to manage the promotion of the use of ICT and e-learning in the educational processes of a large, traditional, five century-old university, the University of Granada in Spain. The finally decided structure for its Virtual Learning Center as regards the institution needs is described, as well as the academic staff ICT formation program, the technology choice and the online courses developed. Finally, the new challenges faced by the institution are identified.
