Afonso Miguel Cavaco
Afonso Miguel Cavaco
holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy Practice and Policy from UCL (UK), a post-doctorate in Health Communication from Johns Hopkins University (USA) as a Fulbright Fellow, the Habilitation title from the University of Lisbon (Portugal), and the Docent title from Helsinki University (Finland). He is an associate professor and researcher in social pharmacy at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Pharmacy (Portugal). He is visiting professor at the Universities of Vilnius (Lithuania) and Tartu (Estonia). Afonso is actively involved in interdisciplinary practice research and contributes to the training of pre and postgraduate pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. His scientific production includes book chapters and more than eighty-five articles published in journals indexed with impact factor. Educational outcomes include implementing innovative pedagogical approaches, such as pharmaceutical practice simulation. Current research interests cover attitudinal aspects of medication use and health communication, particularly patient consultation and medication information.
