Ahu Yolaç

Ahu Yolaç is an Assistant Professor in Game Design at the Lawrence Technological University. She is a multidisciplinary designer. She holds a Ph.D. in Art Education with a focus on Game Design and Game Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.Sc. in Industrial Design from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, and a B.F.A. in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. Her research focuses on video games and educational technologies as critical and transdisciplinary informal learning spaces. She is specifically interested in pedagogical spaces that foster critical thinking strategies that employ pedagogical methodologies that focus on difficult conversations such as diversity and inclusivity. As an educator, practitioner, and researcher, Dr. Yolaç looks at design research and implementing critical design practices into game design processes. Her research interests are game design; game studies; gaming subculture; virtual environments; critical play; art, design, and technology in education; virtual spaces; and video games as pedagogical tools.
