Anthony Ojonimi Onoja

Anthony Ojonimi Onoja is a Professor Extraordinarius at the Department of Agriculture and Animal Health, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, University of South Africa, Johannesburg Campus, South Africa. He is a Full Professor of Resource and Environmental Economics and Director, Institute of Agricultural Research and Development at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. A former Head, Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension and an adjunct Professor at the Institute of Natural Resource Environment and Sustainable Development (INRES); University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Onoja is also a Research Associate at the Resource and Environmental Policy Research Centre (REPRC), University of Nigeria Nsukka, a Project funded by Environment for Development (EfD: ). He is presently the President, Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet) and Executive Committee member of African Association of Agricultural Economics (AAAE). He obtained a PhD in Agricultural Economics (Resource and Environmental Economics option) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2015. He was a Visiting Research Scholar (May-August 2018) at the University of South Africa (UNISA), Johannesburg in 2018 and has participated in external assessment and postgraduate supervision at University of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Malawi and UNISA. Professor Onoja is a highly experienced researcher with numerous research grants/fellowships and international consultancies to his credit. He has had several research presentations at the Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (TRAPCA) in Arusha, Tanzania. He is widely published and travelled too and his research intersects are in climate change studies especially Climate Smart Agriculture, vulnerability assessments, agricultural policy analysis, trade/macroeconomic policy, applied econometrics, sustainable agricultural livelihoods as well as agribusiness finance/project analysis. He serves in the editorial boards of four reputable journals and is an official mentor in the AWARD ICWAE Special Mentoring Orientation Program currently ongoing.
