Ashleigh Hannah Aviña
Ashleigh Hannah Aviña
is a doctoral student at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Educational Psychology. She holds a masters degree in Special Education: Applied Behavior Analysis and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Ashleigh's research focuses on improving school mental health services and systems for students with disabilities. More specifically, she aims to better understand how early identification, prevention, and intervention tools and processes can improve the poor outcomes associated with adverse childhood experiences for children and youth receiving special education services. Ashleigh is also interested in the implementation of trauma-informed practices for school systems and using implementation frameworks to facilitate partnerships between schools, families, and mental health programs. Ashleigh's research interests are informed by her time as a special education teacher, where she taught middle school students identified with autism spectrum disorder who received special education services in a self-contained classroom setting.
