Ashratuz Zavin Asha

Ashratuz Zavin Asha is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science (CPSC) at the University of Calgary (UofC), Alberta, Canada. She works in the Interactions Lab (iLab) under the supervision of Dr. Ehud Sharlin. Her research interest broadly sits in the domains of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Interaction Design. During her Ph.D. study, she explores in-vehicle interfaces for marginalized and vulnerable populations (older adults and women) to promote inclusivity, trust, and acceptability toward autonomous vehicles (AVs). She completed her master's from CPSC at UofC in Aug 2021. Her master's research explored the emerging new domain of interaction between pedestrians and AVs, with a strong focus on designing inclusive interfaces for vulnerable road users: pedestrians using wheelchairs, hearing aids, etc. Her works have been published in top HCI and computer science conferences, including CHI and DIS. She has earned prestigious awards for her research contributions, including the Alberta Innovates and Eyes High Doctoral Scholarships.
