Asuman Özgür Keysan

Asuman Özgür Keysan held a Ph.D. in School of Government and Public Policy from the University of Strathclyde, UK. Her Ph.D. thesis analysed how and in what ways voices of women activists from ten different women’s organisations in Turkey contribute to the meaning of civil society and/or produce alternative understandings to the dominant views of civil society in Turkey. She previously completed two master’s programmes in European Studies at the Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey and in Political Research at the University of Strathclyde, UK. She is an author of book titled Activism and Women’s NGOs in Turkey: Civil Society, Feminism and Politics (2018). Her main fields of interest are gender politics, civil society theories and practices, Turkish politics, gender and migration and qualitative research methods. She is a faculty member of Political Science and Public Administration Department at Atılım University, Turkey.
