Debra L. Worthington
Debra L. Worthington (Ph.D., University of Kansas, 1994), Associate Professor of Communication at Auburn University, has published numerous articles in listening, particularly as related to measurement and individual listening style. She is lead author of the text, Listening: Processes, Functions, and Competency. She has received multiple top paper and panel awards, including the Ralph G. Nichols Listening Award and the Burton Award for Legal Achievement. Her research has been recognized by
organizations such as the American Society of Trial Consultants, the Burton Foundation, the European Communication Research and Education Association, and the International Listening Association, as well as by multiple divisions of the National Communication Association. She is a past president of the International Listening Association.
