Fahim Anzum

Fahim Anzum is a Computer Science Ph.D. candidate at the University of Calgary (uCalgary), Calgary, AB, Canada and an Alberta Innovates and Eyes High Doctoral scholar. He is conducting research under the supervision of Dr. Marina L. Gavrilova in the Biometric Technologies Laboratory (BT Lab). Fahim's research investigates novel and effective strategies to enhance the explainability of large language models (LLMs) for responsible and trustworthy decision-making in online social media (OSM) applications. His research interests extend to the application of deep learning models in areas such as emotion detection and user-behavior analysis in online social media by leveraging natural language processing techniques. In 2021, Fahim received his M.Sc. in Computer Science from uCalgary, where he conducted research under the supervision of Dr. Mario Costa Sousa and Dr. Usman Alim. During his master's study, he achieved the Mitacs-Accelerate Graduate Research Scholarship and worked with Suncor Energy Inc. as a research intern. Before joining uCalgary, he served at the United International University (UIU), Bangladesh as a Lecturer (currently on study leave) in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department. Fahim completed his B.Sc. in CSE from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
