Hasina Mohyuddin

Hasina Mohyuddin , Assistant Dean of Peabody’s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, received her PhD in Community Research and Action at Vanderbilt University in 2020. Prior to joining the program, she received her BA in Economics from Yale University (1994), and an MBA from Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University (1998). After working in the healthcare industry for several years, she became increasingly concerned about the social justice issues that emerged within the Muslim community in the aftermath of 9/11. As such, much of her scholarly work focuses on the religious identity formation of Muslim youths and the ways in which religious and interfaith organizations can work to alleviate social justice issues within communities. Hasina’s work in the Peabody Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion has included providing resources and programming to support equity and inclusion efforts within the Peabody community. She facilitates workshops on such topics as unconscious bias, inclusive leadership, the impact of racism and structural inequalities, restorative justice, and narrative circles. As a Research Associate, Hasina has also worked on a number of community engaged research projects, most recently conducting a city-wide Digital Inclusion Needs Assessment with Digital Inclusion Nashville. Hasina is also an active member of both the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities, currently serving on the boards of the Maddox Fund and PENCIL.
