James P. Bywater
James Bywater
is an Assistant Professor of Learning Design and Technology at James Madison University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Oxford and a Ph.D. in instructional technology from the University of Virginia. His research focuses on the design and implementation of interactive technologies that support teaching and learning, with a focus on mathematics education and the use of natural language processing technologies to support equitable teaching practices. Prior to his doctoral work he was a high school mathematics teacher for ten years and taught in public schools in Chicago, Maine, and Virginia.
