Katherine E.L. Norris

Katherine Norris is currently a professor at West Chester University of Pennsylvania where she teaches in the Department of Early and Middle Grades Education. In this capacity, Dr. Norris teaches at the undergraduate, graduate, and the doctoral levels. Dr. Norris developed courses and teaches in the online Master's in Early Childhood Education program at West Chester. She earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from West Chester University and a M.S. in Literacy from Saint Joseph’s University. Later Dr. Norris attended Temple University where she received an Ed.D. in Literacy. Since beginning at West Chester University in 2007, she has served in positions which enable her to work on issues of social justice and multicultural education. Dr. Norris has focused much of her research on building culturally responsive relationships between families and schools, literacy, and diversity in education. She has recent publications in Multicultural Education, Teaching Young Children, and Issues in Teacher Education. Dr. Norris is currently awaiting the publication of her first self-published children's book. Prior to teaching at West Chester University, Dr. Norris spent over 18 years teaching for the School District of Philadelphia.
