Malefetjane Phineas Phaladi

Malefetjane Phineas Phaladi (PhD) is Director of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Library Services, external examiner, reviewer, postgraduate students’ supervisor and researcher affiliated to the Department of Information Systems. Dr. Phaladi is strategist, an exceptional leader and researcher with more than 20 years library and information service industry experience mainly in the academic and corporate sectors. He is a member of Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) and serves as a trustee at South African Library and Information (SALI) Trust, Board of Trustees and represent DUT on the Committee of Higher Education Libraries of South Africa (CHELSA). Dr Phaladi is a holder of five degrees including four postgraduate qualifications in different information science-related disciplines, namely a PhD in Information Science from UNISA, MPhil degree in Information and Knowledge Management from Stellenbosch University, BCom Honours in IT Management from University of Johannesburg, Bachelor of Information Studies Honours (BInfHons) & Bachelor of Information Studies in Education (BInf.Ed) from University of Limpopo. He serves as a regular reviewer for South African Journal of Libraries and Information Science (SAJLIS), South African Journal of Information Management (SAJIM), South African Journal of Human Resource Management (SAJHRM) and has also reviewed several chapters for book publications published or accepted for publication by US-based IGI Global. His recent peer reviews include the book chapter in Roache, D (Editor), 2023, Transformational Leadership Styles, Management Strategies, and Communication published by IGI Global in 2023, book chapter in Ngulube, P (Editor), Handbook of Research Connecting Research Methods for Information Science Research published by IGI Global in 2020, another book chapter published in Ngulube P (Editor) in 2022, Handbook of Research on Mixed Methods Research in Information Science by the same publisher. He has also recently reviewed paper for the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). Dr Phaladi has presented papers at local and international conferences and published scholarly works in the field of knowledge management, knowledge risk management, human resource management and mixed methods research. His research interests include mixed methods research, organisational tacit knowledge loss, knowledge management, knowledge risk management, human resource management, open access and open science, library management, information technology management and governance, and state-owned enterprises. He served on the editorial committees for SCANUL-ELS Conference (Standing Conference of African and University Librarians – Eastern, Central & Southern) and LIASA-SCECSAL Conference (hosted by Library and Information Association of South Africa and Standing Conference of Eastern, Central and Southern African Library and Information Associations).
