Marhaini Mohd Noor

Marhaini Mohd Noor is a senior lecturer in policy studies; her aim is to employ knowledge and skills in policy and development studies through research, expert consultation and community partnership. Her key areas are rural development and regional development policy, ICT for development (ICT4D), community informatics, cyber security and maritime studies. She has published her publications in journals, monographs and book chapters published by UMT Publishers, UiTM Publishers, and MIT. The latest publication is “Assessing Rural Telecentres in Malaysia Using Program Logic Framework”. She has evaluated the conference paper for the Interdisciplinary ICT Practice 2017 (IIPC), Australian Journal of Information Systems, Reviewer, 2015, International Conference Proceeding: ICoPS, Reviewer, 2015 and writing a journal article titled “Building social capital through community informatics: Strong local community participation and engagement at RICs.” She had won the Best Paper Award at IPID Postgraduate Strand at Royal Holloway University of London, UK, through her thesis entitled 'Evaluating the Contribution of Community Informatics to Rural Development: The Case of Malaysia's Rural Internet Centers'. She has received an Excellent Service Award, FSPPP, UiTM, 2007 and Bronze Award from University Research Innovation Symposium Exposition 2015 (RISE 2015), MOSTI. She is currently involved in Ministry of Education grant (FRGS 2019-2022), researching a study on cyber security and coastal community. Thus, managed to supervise a PhD and Master students in the area. The research grant title: “Developing a scale-up social capital framework of cyber security initiative for rural community wellbeing in East Coast Peninsular Malaysia”.
