Marizvikuru Mwale

Marizvikuru Mwale-Manjoro is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Rural Development (IRD), University of Venda (UNIVEN). She coordinates the Ph.D. programme in IRD and serves in the Faculty of Science Engineering and Agriculture Higher Degrees Committee and UNIVEN Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee, for which she is the Deputy Chairperson. Mari has recently been appointed the Deputy Chairperson of the UNIVEN research ethics oversight committee. Her research interests encompass ethnoveterinary medicine, livestock science for rural development, and water and food security for improved rural livelihoods. She has published manuscripts widely in recognised national and international Journals and book chapters. She has contributed to human capacity development by successfully supervising at least 30 postgraduate students, farmer training, and mentorship of peers and Postdoctoral Fellows. Mari is an executive committee member of the Northern Region Research Ethics and Integrity Community of Practice in Southern Africa, an Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Mentor, Southern Africa Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) member, full member of the Organization of Women in Science in the Developing World, and Africa Science Leadership Programme Fellow, among other professional associations. She also has been recently appointed to serve as as a co-opted member of the SARIMA Portfolio Committee for Research Management for the next two years. She is a sub-editor of the South African Journal of Animal Science. Mari is a National Research Foundation C-Rated Researcher.
