Sarah Chesney

Sarah Chesney has been an educator for over twenty years, currently serving as a professor of Science and STEM Education at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She prepares pre-service middle level and secondary education science teacher candidates and leads Pitt-Johnstown’s STEM Endorsement Program, which allows candidates to concentrate their degrees in STEM. Dr. Chesney’s prior work included the design and facilitation of teacher professional development at ASSET Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA. Her research interests include inquiry-based teaching, integrated STEM Education approaches, and improving science literacy in today’s schools. Dr. Chesney has taught elementary and middle school students in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, as well as graduate level education students at Carlow University and California University of Pennsylvania. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and her M.S.Ed. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Chesney received her doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in Science and STEM Education.
