Shubha Sandill

Dr. Shubha Sandill is a strategic leader with an interdisciplinary background in academia, business, non-profits, and civic leadership with extensive experience from a multitude of local, provincial, national, and global civil society organizations. Shubha is the Founder & CEO of Leadership for Equitable & Sustainable Future (LESF), a thought-leadership strategy organization. She holds a Ph.D in Geography from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University in India (formerly Agra University), a Masters in Geography from Agra University’s St. John’s College, a second Masters in Globalization Studies from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, followed by a research fellowship at York University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LAPS) in Toronto. Shubha was a Lecturer at the Department of Geography at Agra University’s RBS College, and has been teaching at York University’s LAPS since 2012. Prior to this, she was President of Richa Enterprises Inc. in Hamilton for nearly two decades. Shubha’s current research concentrates on global gender, economic and climate justice, and socio-legal and public policy reforms through an intersectional framework. Her research about law, equality and entrepreneurship, funded by Osgoode Hall Law School, has been widely published in journals such as the American Journal of Academic Perspectives, and academic books. She has also contributed op-eds to the Canadian Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP) - Policy Options Journal. Shubha has served on the Board of Directors for various organizations including Ontario Council for International Cooperation, Equal Voice Canada, and most recently, as Global Board Director at White Ribbon Alliance where her efforts focused on global health inequities and gender justice for women and girls. An avid advocate for advancing civic leadership, Shubha recently ran as the 2022 Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Candidate for Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas and continues to dedicate her efforts towards making civic landscapes more inclusive, equitable and sustainable, while bridging the gap between academia, legislature and politics for evidence-based policy formation and constructive law reforms.
