Vasiliki Folia

Vasiliki Folia earned her graduate degree from the Department of Psychology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a master's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from Radboud University in The Netherlands. Her PhD, completed at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, focused on Implicit Learning of Linguistic Syntax in the Department of Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience. Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Folia held various positions at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), starting as an Assistant from 2009 to 2012, then advancing to become an Associate Professor from 2013 to 2018. During this time, she also served as a Research Chair from 2016 to 2018. She joined the Department of Psychology in Aristotle University in 2021. Her primary research interests lie in the field of neuropsychology of language, both in healthy and clinical populations. Specifically, her work revolves around investigating neural mechanisms, serial language processing, and cognitive functions that contribute to syntactic and linguistic ability. To achieve these objectives, she employs a combination of neuropsychological, neurophysiological, and neuroimaging methods.
