Zikhona Mamase

Zikhona Mamase is a Language Practioner, a dedicated professional pursuing Masters in Education. Completed Joint Honours degree in African Languages and Journalism and Media Studies, with Language Planning and Intellectualisation, Human Language Technology, Sociolinguistics, and Digital Media as course components. Accomplished in various areas, including Drama, Directing, Acting, Photo and Videography, with a focus on graphic design, and Creative Arts education. Possess a strong educational foundation with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, with 2 teaching methods: Creative Arts for Grades 7 to 9 and isiXhosa Home Language from Grades 7 to 12. Skilled in teaching and mentorship, curriculum development, and fostering creativity and language proficiency among students. Currently advancing knowledge in Initial Teacher Education for Foundation Phase at Masters Level, with focus in Exploring the Development of IsiXhosa Home Language Knowledge in Student Teachers. Analysing how these types of knowledge are integrated into the teacher education program can shed light on strengths and weaknesses in preparing teachers for the Foundation Phase.
