While megacities are a reality, so too are the environmental disturbances that they cause, including air and water pollution. These disturbances can be modeled with technology and data obtained by modern methods, such as by drone, to monitor cities in near real-time as well as help to simulate risk situations and propose future solutions. These solutions can be inspired by the theoretical principles of sustainable urbanism.

Methods and Applications of Geospatial Technology in Sustainable Urbanism is a collection of innovative research that combines theory and practice on analyzing urban environments and applying sustainability principles to them. Author's/Editor's Biography

José Tenedório (Ed.)
José António Tenedório is a Geographer, Associate Professor at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (UNL), Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (FCSH), and Visiting Professor at Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2005-2013), Barcelona, Spain. Graduated in Geography and Regional Planning (1984) at UNL-FCSH. He attended University of Paris VI-Pierre et Marie Curie, Faculty of Sciences, where he post-graduate (DESS/M.Sc. in 1991) in Remote Sensing and the University of Paris XII, Urbanism Institute, to obtained Ph.D. (1998) in Urbanism. Her main scientific area of research is Urban Remote Sensing, GIS, spatial analysis, and geographical modeling. He has published more than one hundred papers (book chapters, papers in periodic with scientific refereeing, papers in conference proceedings with scientific refereeing). In 2013 he received the (first prize) SANTANDER Award for the Internationalization of the FCSH Scientific Production 2013.

Rossana Estanqueiro (Ed.)
Rossana Estanqueiro is a Geographer. Graduated in Geography and Regional Planning (2002), MSc in Territorial Management (2007) and PhD in Geography and Territorial Planning, specialization area in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (2012). Researcher integrated at CICS.NOVA Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences and Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning (DGPR) of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH), Lisbon, where since 2012 she teaches aggregate subjects in the area of geographic analysis, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems for territorial and urban planning, and since 2017 is mobility coordinator (ERASMUS +) of the DGPR.

Cristina Henriques (Ed.)
Cristina Delgado Henriques, is a Geographer and Urban and Regional Planner, Assistant Professor at the Lisbon School of Architecture, University of Lisbon. Holds a PhD in Urban Planning from the Technical University of Lisbon, with a doctoral dissertation entitled "City and Geographic Information Technologies in African Context. Land Use Change Modeling in Maputo". Graduated in Geography and Regional Planning from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Holder of a scholarship from the Institute of Tropical Research, for the development of Cabo Verde Atlas, and of a scholarship, from in the Military Geographical Institute, for the working up of the international project Vector Smart Map.
