Abstract

This case study explores the successful adoption of authentic assessment practices in the finance and accounting classroom at Christ University, Bangalore, India. the faculty sought to better prepare students for real-world challenges in the finance and accounting industry. The case study highlights the collaboration between faculty and industry professionals in designing authentic assessment tasks that simulate real-world scenarios. Tasks such as financial statement analysis, investment portfolio management, risk assessment, and strategic financial planning simulations engaged students, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Positive outcomes of authentic assessment implementation were observed, including increased student engagement and confidence in tackling real-world challenges. The use of rubrics and ongoing feedback provided personalised guidance to students, promoting continuous improvement. Technical critical analysis addressed considerations for validity, reliability, and assessment bias mitigation in authentic assessment.
