Abstract

This paper presents an inquiry into the applicability of the operation qualities identified for data and information values to decision variables. It posits and demonstrates that they apply not only to data values, information values, elements of knowledge, and physical factors in operations, but also to decision variables in decision-making. This approach leads to a universal hierarchical impact-focused taxonomy of decision variables. This is of practical importance in analyzing decision situations, their models, and in prioritizing the corresponding research.
